Mashup Monday #21

So today I got three sick mashers for your viewing listening pleasure.

First up is a mashup of Dr. Dre and JJ. So what is happening here is JJ did a album of already popular beats, and one her songs was the melody for ‘Still Dre’ and I loved the fuck out of it, but it was lacking something. And that was Dre. So, Hype Jones did me the pleasure of mashing them together to make a bomb ass track. It’s got that timeless gangsta feel with a soft aerial voice of JJ for the chorus. It is super chill and I love the fuck out of it.

Next up is another Kaskade masher, and it is a hard banging house anthem, with soft [once again] aerial sort of voice to accompany the hard driving house. This is a song that a die hard and a inexperienced house people will fall head over heels in love for this one. Take a look.

Last is a masher from one of my favorite artists: Xaphoon Jones. His productions are always quality and he came out with a mixtape recently [yes I’ll give you a download for it] and it just shows how he is becoming a force to be reckoned with. And this song is no exception, it is ‘Sleepyhead’ by Passion Pit mashed with the melody of ‘I Want You Back’ by Jackson 5. It is a upbeat and happy masher and I have been listening to it WAY too much lately. See for yourself.

“Looks like somebody has a case of the mondays.” – Office Space
I know, you don’t have to remind me, a-hole.

Rap Doesn’t Always Suck

Well, yeah. But, most of the shit that is out there these days is absolute and utter bullshit that should not be considered rap. So, today I have some tuneage that is up to my ever increasing standard for music. It isn’t always about the fame, bitches, cash, and blunts. And these tracks aren’t the mindless bullshit you would likely be exposed to on a daily basis. Take a look at each one, they each have different strengths, but they are all equally amazing.

Mashup Monday #20

Here is a mashup of Edward Sharpe and T.I. and it has such contradicting qualities, but it is too good for me to explain! I have listened to it far to many times to mention and it is because the song has a totally different feel than conventional rap songs. You’ll be pleasantly surprised how sick this song is. Hit that shit son.

First up is originally a Muse song called ‘Knights of Cydonia’ and at first it looks like a mild dubstep remix, but DJ Parker adds in a sprinkle of Beastie Boys to give it a little more depth. All in all this is a hard banging mashup. With most of ‘Knights of Cydonia’ still intact, but there is still a pretty heavy dubstep over it. Blast this until your ears are ringing.

Lastly is a masher of Ratatat and Marvin Gaye, and it has provided a fun electronic view on a classic, so check it out and enjoy.

N.W.A

Remember those guys? If you don’t, here is a quick run down.
1) Members include: DJ Yella, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, Ice Cube, and MC Ren
2) N.W.A = Niggaz Wit Attitudes
3) Best known for rapping about how the police are less than trust worthy fellows

Well that is a short summary of these guys. Now, this song is NOT a good representation of who they are. Why you may ask? Well, it is because this song has nothing to do about the streets and is devoid of profanity/violent content. And who the fuck cares? Not me. It has a catchy sample and the lyrics are fucking insanely good. A hidden gem for sure.
